Up to $5,000 Available to Property Owners Who Partner with the County

Property Owners Who Lease Units to Emergency Housing Voucher Holders Eligible for Additional Incentives



Alhambra, CA, November 22, 2021 – The Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) is offering $2,500 to eligible property owners who partner with the County and rent their available units to Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) holders.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has allocated 1,964 EHVs to the LACDA to assist residents most in need, including individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness, at risk of experiencing homelessness, fleeing, or attempting to flee, domestic violence or human trafficking, or were recently homeless and for whom providing rental assistance will prevent the family’s homelessness or having high risk of housing instability. 

Property owners who have units located in the jurisdictions served by the LACDA, Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, or City of Pasadena, are eligible to sign up and receive the following:

- Up to $5,000 for a one-time reimbursement for new contract inspection repairs

- $2,500 signing bonus for each unit leased to an EHV participant

- Reliable monthly payments

- Free property listing

“This unprecedented global pandemic requires unprecedented actions to protect people experiencing homeless and other vulnerable populations,” said Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Hilda L. Solis, Supervisor to the First District. “The additional monetary incentives being offered to property owners throughout the County to house Emergency Housing Voucher holders is a promising tool. I thank the Los Angeles County Development Authority for helping to lead innovative win-win solutions.”

“These robust incentives send a clear message to our property owner partners that we want to do all we can to make the program work for them, as well as for our families that are in dire need,” said Emilio Salas, LACDA Executive Director. “On top of incentive bonuses, we’re also willing to help subsidize the cost of repairs to bring a unit up to standard which is an unprecedented benefit not likely to be found anywhere in the country.”
