Proposed Funding for
Off-Cycle Projects

 

 

The public is invited to review the following proposed off-cycle projects of the County to be included in the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Action Plan, which identifies projected use of funds for July 1, 2021– June 30, 2022 for submission to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). 

COUNTYWIDE SUPERVISORIAL DISTRICT PROJECTS


Agency Name: Housing Operations Division
Program Name: South Bay Gardens Solar Project
Project Number: 602530-21
Original CDBG Amount: $500,000

Description:  This new project provides for the installation of new solar panels and carports, which includes repairs and ADA improvements and associated work to parking lot at the South Bay Gardens Housing Development (230 E. 130th Street, Los Angeles, CA). The renewable electricity generated from the solar panels will reduce residents' utility bill by approximately 30%.  This activity meets the HUD National Objective as a project serving Low- and Moderate-income Limited Clientele under HUD Code 14C.

Program Name: Maravilla On-Site Childcare Center Improvements

Original CDBG Amount: $100,000

Description:  This new project provides the Maravilla Housing Development On-Site Childcare Center (4919 Cesar E. Chavez Avenue, Los Angeles, CA) with repairs and improvements to the playground rubber flooring and tot lot area, interior facility painting, repair and replacement of cabinets, and site prep work for building system improvements.  This activity meets the HUD National Objective as a project serving Low- and Moderate-income Limited Clientele under HUD Code 14C.

Program Name: Harbor Hills and Carmelitos Housing Sites - Playground Improvements
Project Number: 602531-21
Original CDBG Amount: $500,000

Description:  This new project provides the Harbor Hills and Carmelitos Housing Developments' playgrounds with improvement to include but not limited to, replacement of damaged or missing components, removal and replacement with new padding, and repainting existing structures for all playground areas. In addition, this project provides for the removal of material and architectural barriers that restrict the mobility and accessibility conforming to ADA standards.  The Harbor Hills and Carmelitos Housing Development sites are located at 26607 S. Western Ave., Lomita, CA and 700 Via Wanda, Long Beach, CA, respectively.  This activity meets the HUD National Objective as a project serving Low- and Moderate-income Limited Clientele under HUD Code 14C.
